WSET Level 1 in Wines

The WSET L1 in Wines course is a beginner-level introduction to wine. It is suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine.

For wine beginners, this qualification gives a hands-on introduction to the wine world. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine. You’ll do this through sight, smell, and taste. You’ll also learn the basic skills to describe wines well and to pair food and wine.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

WSET level 1 in Wines

Course delivery

This qualification has a minimum requirement of six hours of study time, in a classroom or online

Assessment

Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. You must be of legal drinking age to participate in any alcohol tasting. However, this is not a barrier to successfully completing the qualification.
